Exploring the Sounds of Space: Astronaut Sophie Adenot's Dream Astro Playlist

Have you ever wondered what music astronauts listen to while in space? Deezer, a popular music streaming app, has teamed up with the European Space Agency (ESA) to provide astronauts with entertainment during their missions. French astronaut Sophie Adenot has curated her own playlist called Dream Astro, which will be updated regularly throughout her εpsilon mission at the International Space Station (ISS). The playlist features a diverse selection of songs from artists like Coldplay, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga, as well as French-speaking artists such as Céline Dion and Aya Nakamura. Classics like Pink Floyd’s ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’ and Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’ are also included.

Adenot and her crew embarked on their journey last Friday, marking the start of the longest ESA astronaut mission to date. Deezer hopes that music will create a special connection between Earth and low Earth orbit. The Dream Astro playlist currently consists of 40 songs and will eventually expand to 200 tracks by the end of the expedition. Adenot personally selected each song for the playlist, including Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ and David Guetta’s ‘I’m Good (Blue)’ for their positive energy, as well as Miracle Of Sound’s ‘Valhalla Calling’ (Duet Version) for its adventurous spirit.

Deezer has previously collaborated with astronauts in space, with French astronaut Thomas Pesquet creating a playlist called Space Vibes in 2021. He updated the playlist daily from the ISS with his favorite tracks. If you’re curious to hear what music astronauts are listening to in space, you can tune in to Sophie Adenot’s Dream Astro playlist on Deezer now.
