Officer-Involved Shooting in Southwest Baltimore: Three Teenagers Apprehended After Attempted Break-In

Three teenagers, including two 14-year-old males with ankle monitors from previous arrests and one 14-year-old female, were apprehended after an officer-involved shooting in southwest Baltimore. The incident occurred when officers responded to a call about armed individuals trying to break into a residence on W. Lombard Street. Upon approaching a Kia sedan occupied by multiple individuals, an officer was struck by the vehicle as it reversed, prompting him to discharge his firearm. The Kia fled the scene, colliding with other vehicles before being found abandoned on S. Arlington Avenue. The vehicle had been reported stolen the day before the incident. Two 14-year-old males were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and auto theft, while the 14-year-old female driver, who sustained a wrist injury believed to be a gunshot graze wound, was also arrested and charged with similar offenses. The officer involved, identified as William Cole, suffered ankle injuries but has been treated and released from the hospital. The Baltimore Police Department’s Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the incident.
