Phil Trautwein: From Player to Coach - A Return to Florida Gators Glory

Phil Trautwein, the offensive line coach for the Florida Gators, has tattoos on both of his arms. His right arm features family-related tattoos, while his left arm showcases championship ink from his time as a player with the team. Trautwein has two national championship tattoos, one from 2006 and another from 2008, which were originally not meant to be national title tattoos.

Trautwein, a former player for the Gators, is now back with the program as the offensive line coach. He is excited to continue adding to his tattoo collection and is open to making bets with anyone who wants to challenge him. Trautwein's return to Gainesville as a coach was a goal he always had in mind, as he has a deep love for the University of Florida.

After a successful coaching career at Penn State and Boston College, Trautwein finally got the opportunity to return to Florida when he was hired by head coach Jon Sumrall. Sumrall, known for his attention to detail and winning mentality, saw Trautwein as a valuable addition to the coaching staff due to his experience and success as a player and coach.

As Trautwein joins Sumrall's staff, he is focused on rebuilding the offensive line room and improving recruiting at the position. He believes in developing players based on mindset rather than star ratings and is confident in his ability to help players reach their full potential. Trautwein's track record of developing offensive linemen at Penn State makes him a valuable asset to the coaching staff.

Trautwein's return to Florida as a coach has been a meaningful opportunity for him, as he is passionate about the program and eager to contribute to its success. Alongside other former Gators on the coaching staff, Trautwein is determined to help rebuild the team and establish a culture of excellence under Sumrall's leadership.
