RM x SFMOMA: Bridging Boundaries Through Art

RM x SFMOMA is an upcoming exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) curated by BTS' RM. The exhibition, scheduled to open in October 2026 and run through February 2027, will showcase RM's personal art collection alongside selections from SFMOMA's own holdings. This unique collaboration will allow visitors to explore modern Korean artworks in dialogue with iconic pieces from around the world. Approximately 200 works will be featured, focusing on themes of cultural dialogue, artistic evolution, and cross-boundary exploration.

RM's collection includes works by prominent Korean modern and contemporary artists like Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rehyun, Kwon Okyon, Kim Yun Shin, To Sangbong, and Chang Ucchin. These pieces will be complemented by artworks from SFMOMA's collection by artists such as Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Paul Klee. RM is actively involved as a co-curator alongside SFMOMA curators América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim, shaping the presentation of the works to engage a wide audience interested in the interplay of cultures, histories, and creative perspectives.

RM expressed his hope that the exhibition will serve as a bridge between different boundaries, including those between East and West, Korea and America, and the modern and contemporary art worlds. By offering a fresh perspective on art, RM x SFMOMA aims to provide visitors with a unique and enriching experience that challenges traditional notions of art and culture.
