Shia LaBeouf Arrested for Violent Altercations at R Bar in New Orleans

Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday following a series of violent altercations at the R Bar in the Marigny neighborhood. The 39-year-old star of Transformers is facing two counts of simple battery after a night of escalating aggression during Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans. Police were called to the R Bar around 12:45 a.m. after staff reported LaBeouf's increasingly irate and aggressive behavior throughout the evening. Witnesses stated that the bar's manager tried to remove LaBeouf multiple times, leading to a physical confrontation where LaBeouf allegedly struck the manager. Another individual who tried to help escort LaBeouf out was also reportedly attacked by the actor. The situation worsened when LaBeouf returned to the bar with more hostility, prompting patrons to restrain him until police arrived.

After being released by the group, LaBeouf allegedly attacked the first victim again, landing several punches. He then turned his attention to a second man, striking him in the face with enough force to potentially dislocate his nose. The police report noted that LaBeouf used homophobic slurs during the attacks. Video footage confirmed that LaBeouf had hit at least two people with closed fists. Following his arrest, LaBeouf was taken to Touro Hospital for evaluation before being booked into Central Lockup. He was later released on his own recognizance and was spotted dancing on Bourbon Street with his release papers in his mouth. This incident adds to LaBeouf's history of public disturbances and legal issues, including previous charges for public drunkenness and assault in other cities. LaBeouf's next court appearance is scheduled for March 19.
