The upcoming adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ “American Psycho” is facing a challenge as no lead actor has signed on for the role. Director Luca Guadagnino is set to helm the new version of the novel for Lionsgate, sparking fan speculation about potential casting choices like Austin Butler and Patrick Schwarzenegger. However, Ellis revealed on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast that multiple ‘high-profile actors’ have declined offers to star in the film. While no names were disclosed, Ellis believes that actors may be hesitant to step into the shoes of Christian Bale, who portrayed the character in the 2000 film adaptation directed by Mary Harron. The role became one of Bale’s most iconic early performances, alongside co-stars Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Justin Theroux, Reese Witherspoon, and Chloe Sevigny.
