Former Footballer and Three Others Charged with Attempted Murder in Huyton Shooting Incident

A former footballer and three others have been charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident in Huyton. The victim, a man in his 20s, was shot in the leg on a driveway and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspects were arrested after warrants were executed in Knowsley, Sefton, and Liverpool.

Former Accrington Stanley midfielder and boxer Patrick Sean Lacey, along with John Aaron Jones, John George Patrick Hughes, and Bernard Flynn, have been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, possession of a shotgun and ammunition, and other related offenses. They are scheduled to appear in court today.

Lacey, who started his career with Tranmere Rovers and played for various clubs, also had a successful boxing career with a record of 10-0. Detective Inspector Chris Clark emphasized the importance of the ongoing investigation and urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the authorities.
