Shocking Attack: Undocumented Immigrant Arrested for Attempted Murder on Florida Beach

An undocumented immigrant has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman on a Florida beach, attempting to drown her, and leaving her for dead. The suspect, Alexander Hernandez Gonzalez, a 26-year-old Venezuelan national, was apprehended by the Martin County Sheriff's Office following the unprovoked assault at Tiger Shores Beach in Stuart.
The incident, described as extremely alarming by Sheriff John Budensiek, occurred late at night when the victim was walking along the shoreline while on her phone. Hernandez Gonzalez reportedly struck her, pushed her into the water, and tried to drown her in a random act of violence.
The victim was brutally attacked, dragged into the ocean, and held down by Hernandez Gonzalez until she lost consciousness. Believing her to be dead, he threw her cell phone into the ocean before leaving the scene. The victim later regained consciousness and managed to walk over a mile to seek help from a sheriff's deputy at Stuart beach.
After a search, Hernandez Gonzalez was apprehended when a suicidal individual reported his involvement in the attack. Despite being informed that the victim survived, the suspect showed no remorse during police questioning. He is currently held without bond in the Martin County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree premeditated murder.
Hernandez Gonzalez entered the U.S. illegally in 2023 and was granted Temporary Protected Status by the Biden administration. The Department of Homeland Security has issued an immigration detainer against him to ensure he remains in custody. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the attack, attributing it to the open-border policies of the Biden administration.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office has not responded to requests for comment on the case. This incident underscores the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and immigration authorities to prevent criminal acts by undocumented individuals.
