U2 recently released a new EP titled Days of Ash on Ash Wednesday, February 18, 2026. The band described the EP as a response to real-world crises and the impact they have on people's lives. The opening track, "American Obituary," focuses on Renée Nicole Macklin Good, a mother of three from Minneapolis who was tragically killed during a federal immigration operation. Bono's lyrics challenge the government's portrayal of Good as a "domestic terrorist," a label that her family is contesting in a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The EP also addresses global conflicts, with songs inspired by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. The closing track, "Yours Eternally," features a collaboration between U2, Ed Sheeran, and Ukrainian musician Taras Topolia. The band connected the collaboration to their previous visit to Kyiv and announced a documentary related to the song, set to be released on February 24, marking four years since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
In addition to the EP, U2 announced the revival of their official Propaganda fan magazine.
