San Jose Earthquakes Kick Off Season with Dominant 3-0 Victory Over Sporting Kansas City

The San Jose Earthquakes secured a 3-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City in their season-opening MLS match. Daniel Munie and Preston Judd each scored a goal just before halftime, with Munie netting two goals and Judd adding one. Judd's header was deflected by the keeper before Munie tapped it in for the first goal. Judd then scored with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Jamar Ricketts and Niko Tsakiris. Munie scored his second goal from the middle of the box with assists from Beau Leroux and Reid Roberts.
San Jose dominated the match, outshooting Sporting KC 18-7 and earning 15 corner kicks compared to SKC's three. Sporting KC is entering the 2026 season with a new general manager, David Lee, and a new head coach, Rafaƫl Wicky. After finishing last in the Western Conference last season with only 28 goals, tied for the fewest in the league with Atlanta United, Sporting KC is looking to turn things around this season.
