57th NAACP Image Awards: Highlights, Winners, and Special Honorees
The 57th NAACP Image Awards week began with Michelle Obama and Kendrick Lamar winning early awards. The 57th NAACP Image Awards telecast will air live on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET and CBS, with Deon Cole hosting the show from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” leads all nominations with 18 nods, while the Peacock series “Bel-Air” led the TV categories with seven nominations. Special honorees for this year’s NAACP Image Awards week include Viola Davis, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Rev. Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant. The virtual pre-show ceremony revealed the winners for various categories, including literary works and digital content creators.
Some of the winners from the pre-show ceremony include Michelle Obama for "The Look," Juanita Tolliver for “A More Perfect Party,” Will Packer for “Who Better Than You?,” and Anissa Durham for “On Borrowed Time.” The ceremony also recognized Charles B. Fancher, Nnedi Okorafor, Patricia Smith, Allen R. Wells, Angie Thomas, and Octavia E. Butler for their outstanding works. Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show and digital content creators Berlin Edmond Jr. and Keith Lee were also honored.
