2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees: A Diverse Array of Musical Legends
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its latest group of nominees for induction, which includes a diverse array of artists such as Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, and Shakira. These nominees represent a wide range of musical genres, from rap and R&B to Britpop and metal. The list also includes Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, the Wu-Tang Clan, the Black Crowes, Oasis, Joy Division/New Order, and Billy Idol.
The 2026 inductees will be revealed in April, along with those entering under special committee categories like Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award. Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are eligible for induction, and the nominees will be voted on by a panel of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
Among the nominees are returning artists like Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order, as well as musical brothers from The Black Crowes and Oasis. Phil Collins, known for hits like "In the Air Tonight," and Lauryn Hill, whose album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" made history, are also on the list. Mariah Carey, Sade, the Wu-Tang Clan, INXS, Melissa Etheridge, Iron Maiden, New Edition, Shakira, and Pink are among the other nominees.
Ten of the 17 nominees are first-time contenders, including Jeff Buckley, Luther Vandross, and the Wu-Tang Clan. Vandross, who passed away in 2005, and Buckley, who died in 1997, left behind a lasting impact on the music industry. The 2026 inductees will join the ranks of past honorees like Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, and The White Stripes, who were inducted last year.
