The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced, featuring a diverse range of artists from various genres including rap, metal, R&B, hip-hop, Britpop, blues rock, and pop. The list includes iconic names like Phil Collins, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Iron Maiden, Luther Vandross, and Shakira, among others.
Some of the nominees, such as Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, The Black Crowes, and Oasis, are making a return to the nominations after missing out on induction last year. The list also includes newcomers like Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, and the Wu-Tang Clan.
Phil Collins, known for hits like “In the Air Tonight,” and Lauryn Hill, whose album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” made history at the Grammys, are among the standout nominees. Mariah Carey, with 19 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and Sade, known for soft rock hits like “Smooth Operator,” are also on the list.
INXS, Iron Maiden, New Edition, Shakira, and Pink are recognized for their contributions to music, with each artist bringing a unique sound and style to the industry. The nominees represent a wide range of musical talent and influence.
The 2026 inductees will be announced in April, along with those entering the hall under special committee categories. Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they are eligible for induction. The final selection will be made by a panel of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continues to honor the evolving faces and sounds of music, recognizing the impact of rock and roll on youth culture. The induction ceremony is a celebration of musical excellence and influence, paying tribute to the artists who have shaped the industry over the years.
