Among the nominees are artists like Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition, Sade, and the Wu-Tang Clan, each bringing their unique contributions to the music industry. The nominations also see the return of Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order, as well as musical brothers The Black Crowes and Oasis, who have had public feuds and recent reunions.

Phil Collins, known for hits like “In the Air Tonight,” and Lauryn Hill, whose album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” made history at the Grammys, are among the standout nominees. Mariah Carey, with 19 No. 1 hits, and Sade, known for soft rock classics like “Smooth Operator,” also make the list. INXS, Iron Maiden, and New Edition are recognized for their chart-topping success, while Shakira is praised for blending Latin music with rock and pop.

Ten of the nominees are first-time contenders, including Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Pink, and the Wu-Tang Clan. The nominees will be voted on by a panel of over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals, with the 2026 inductees set to be announced in April. The Rock Hall also honors inductees under special committee categories like musical influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award, highlighting the diverse impact of rock and roll on youth culture.
