24th VES Awards: Winners, Nominees, and Highlights
The Visual Effects Society is currently hosting its 24th VES Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, and the winners are being announced live. James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash leads with 10 nominations, competing against itself in two categories. Other top contenders include KPop Demon Hunters, Elio, and Zootopia 2, each with five nominations. The VES Awards winners are being revealed throughout the event, with special honorees Jerry Bruckheimer and Richard Taylor receiving Lifetime Achievement and Visionary Awards, respectively.
The film Avatar: Fire and Ash, Jurassic World: Rebirth, The Lost Bus, How To Train Your Dragon, and F1: The Movie are among the nominees for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. Dongji Rescue, A House of Dynamite, Warfare, Sinners, and After the Hunt are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. The Bad Guys 2, KPop Demon Hunters, Zootopia 2, In Your Dreams, and Elio are nominated for Outstanding Animation in an Animated Feature.
In the TV category, Andor, It: Welcome to Derry, The Last of Us, Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age, and Stranger Things are nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode. Man vs Baby, The Residence, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Severance, and Death By Lightning are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode. The winners in various categories will be announced as the event progresses.
The VES Awards also recognize outstanding work in real-time projects, commercials, special venue projects, character design, environment design, effects simulations, and compositing & lighting.
