From Near-Death Experience to Recovery: Lamar Odom's Journey Through Drug Addiction
Lamar Odom, the former NBA star and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian, recently opened up about his struggles with drug addiction and his road to recovery. Odom shared details about his near-death experience at a brothel in Crystal, Nevada, where he was found unconscious in 2015. Despite his initial denial of taking drugs that day, Odom admitted to being upset due to the lack of access to cocaine, which he associated with women. After spending $75,000 at the brothel, he woke up three days later in a hospital, unable to speak and unaware of what had happened.
Following his coma, Odom faced multiple health challenges, including strokes and difficulty speaking. It took him two months to regain his ability to speak. Despite being sober from cocaine for two years, Odom still smokes marijuana, which he considers a drug. He emphasized the importance of a lifestyle change to maintain sobriety and acknowledged the ongoing struggles he faces in his present-day life.
Odom recently entered a 30-day rehab program in Los Angeles to address his marijuana use and prevent a relapse after being arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence in Nevada. His manager, Gina Rodriguez, stated that Odom made the personal decision to seek treatment to reflect on his triggers and work towards his recovery journey.
