Remembering Rev. Jesse Jackson: Commemorative Services in Chicago, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C.

Join us in honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson as we celebrate his remarkable contributions to civil rights. The commemorative services will take place in Chicago, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. The first service will be held at Rainbow PUSH HQ in Chicago, where Rev. Jackson will lie in repose on Thursday and Friday. The address is 930 E. 50th St. in Kenwood, and the hours are from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The CTA will be paying tribute to Rev. Jackson by displaying his image and messaging on digital screens across the system for several weeks. This gesture reflects the values of fair access and opportunity that Rev. Jackson championed throughout his life.
The schedule of services released by the Jackson family and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition includes events in Chicago, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. The services in Chicago will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, and Friday, Feb. 27, at Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters.
Rev. Jackson's journey will continue with services in South Carolina and Washington, D.C. The public is invited to attend the services in South Carolina, including a public service at the South Carolina State Capitol Rotunda on Monday, March 2, and a church service at Brookland Baptist Church later that day.
The People's Celebration will take place at the House of Hope in Chicago on Friday, March 6, followed by a Private Homegoing Celebration at Rainbow PUSH Coalition on Saturday, March 7. Please note that there will be limited capacity at the Private Homegoing Celebration.
As we honor Rev. Jesse Jackson's life, some street closures will be in effect in Chicago to accommodate the services. Join us in remembering and celebrating the legacy of this civil rights icon.
