Authentic Studios: Expanding Horizons in Content Creation

Authentic Studios is set to release "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert" this weekend, a documentary produced by Baz Luhrmann. The film features never-before-seen footage and recordings of Presley, discovered during the making of Luhrmann's "Elvis" biopic. Following the success of this project, Authentic Studios, a division of Authentic Brands Group, is exploring other opportunities within its properties, such as projects centered around Muhammad Ali and Marilyn Monroe.
One of the upcoming projects is "The Greatest," a sports drama starring Jaalen Best, Giovanni Ribisi, and Omari Hardwick, in production for Prime Video. Additionally, Prime Video is working on a project based on the Authentic property Barneys New York, under the guidance of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Recent projects from Authentic Studios include "Surviving Ohio State" on HBO Max, "Iv3erson" on Prime Video, and "Power Moves" and the Emmy-winning "Beckham" on Netflix.
Authentic Studios, established in 2023, comprises four production units: David Beckham's Studio 99, Shaquille O'Neal's Jersey Legends, Authentic Productions, and SI Studios. President Colin Smeeton emphasized the studio's focus on creating compelling content around its intellectual property, moving beyond one-off projects. While the early work has been in unscripted content, Authentic Studios sees potential in scripted projects as they acquire new brands each year.
As Authentic Studios continues to expand its portfolio, the studio is selective about its partnerships to ensure the success of its brands in the content creation space. The studio's commitment to its intellectual property and the production of engaging content reflects its dedication to bringing its brands to life through storytelling.
