Tragic Crash on Walnut Creek Pike in Circleville, Ohio: One Fatality and Two Injuries Reported

A tragic incident occurred on Walnut Creek Pike in Circleville, Ohio, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a crash involving a white Nissan Sentra and a white Chevrolet Equinox. The collision led to the death of a 52-year-old woman, identified as Laura J. Hammond from Mt. Sterling, Ohio, who was pinned between the vehicles. She was later pronounced dead at Ohio Health Grant Medical Center. Fortunately, Hammond managed to move a child out of harm's way before being struck, potentially saving the child's life. The child sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Ohio Health Berger Hospital. The driver of the Nissan, 60-year-old John F. Hill from Circleville, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Ohio Health Berger Hospital for treatment. The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation at the hospital. Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey expressed gratitude to the various agencies that responded to the scene, including Circleville Fire and EMS, Pickaway Township Fire and EMS, Harrison Township Fire and EMS, Scioto Township Fire and EMS, and the Pickaway County Engineers Office. The crash is currently under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
