Love and Filmmaking: Graham Norton's Marriage to Jonathan McLeod and Their Journey in the Film Industry
Graham Norton, the popular TV host, recently got married to Scottish filmmaker Jonathan “Jono” McLeod in 2022. The couple exchanged vows at Bantry House in County Cork, Ireland, a place with sentimental value to Norton from his childhood. McLeod is well-known for his work in film and documentary production, notably directing the acclaimed 2022 documentary "My Old School" featuring Alan Cumming, which earned him the prestigious Bafta award for Best Director – Factual in 2023. Starting his career as a reporter for Scottish television news, McLeod later transitioned into production roles at BBC Scotland and has since created and directed content for major UK broadcasters, as noted by Curtis Brown. His short film "Being Stavros" received critical acclaim, winning the Best Documentary Short award at the Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival in 2014 and being showcased at various LGBTQ+ film festivals worldwide, including Outfest in Los Angeles, Frameline in San Francisco, Inside Out in Toronto, and Side by Side in Moscow.
Reflecting on his marriage later in life, Norton shared his thoughts in a February 2024 interview with Attitude. McLeod has also opened up about his early life, discussing his time at Bearsden Academy in Glasgow in an interview with Queerty. Additionally, Norton recently revealed that he and McLeod received a wedding invitation from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, with Norton's name elegantly written in cursive on the invitation. This invitation marked a significant moment in the couple's wedding preparations, following Swift's promise to invite Norton during her appearance on The Graham Norton Show on Oct. 3.
