Man Who Held Paula Deen at Gunpoint Passes Away from Cardiovascular Disease: Eugene Thomas King Jr.'s Story

A man who once held Paula Deen at gunpoint has passed away from cardiovascular disease, as reported by TMZ. Eugene Thomas King Jr. succumbed to hypertensive and arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to the New York City Medical Examiner's Office. This condition is a result of high blood pressure damaging the arteries and causing plaque buildup, ultimately leading to his natural death.
The incident occurred when King was found unresponsive in his Brooklyn apartment and was pronounced dead by Emergency Medical Service personnel. King had a criminal history, having committed armed robbery in 1987, during which he held a gun to Deen's head while she was working as a bank teller. He was later sentenced to 25 years in prison for this crime and another robbery.
In a surprising turn of events, King came to Deen's defense in 2013 after she faced backlash for using a racial slur. He claimed she was unfairly targeted for a single mistake and apologized for his past actions, including holding her at gunpoint. Eugene King was 75 years old at the time of his passing.
