Gotham FC has completed the transfer of forward Gabi Portilho to San Diego Wave for $175,000 in intraleague transfer funds. Portilho, a Brazilian international, played a crucial role in Gotham's successful 2025 season, contributing three goals and three assists. The 30-year-old forward previously played for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and was nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or Féminin.

Yael Averbuch West, Gotham's general manager, praised Portilho as an integral part of the club's success. Despite fluctuating playing time, Portilho made significant contributions to the team, including scoring a goal against Angel City in September 2025. However, she did not feature in the title game or the 2026 FIFA Women's Champions Cup matches that Gotham played in January.
