Starting his soccer career at the age of three in Greater Cincinnati, Smith excelled at La Salle before pursuing a career in accounting. Despite initially thinking his playing days were over, Smith decided to try out for FC Cincinnati, eventually signing his first professional contract in Louisville.
With over a decade of professional soccer experience, Smith's parents, Mary and Denny Mikkelson, have been his unwavering supporters throughout his journey. They have always been there for him, attending games and planning family vacations around soccer tournaments. Smith fondly remembers his mother's enthusiastic cheers during his games, and now, with him playing for FC Cincinnati, his parents proudly wear the team's colors, including a number 24 Kyle Smith jersey.
Playing for his hometown team is a dream come true for Smith, who is excited to showcase his skills in front of his parents in Cincinnati.
