The Mummy 4: A New Chapter in the Franchise

The Mummy franchise has been a fan favorite since the release of the first film in 1999, starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. The success of the original movie led to a sequel, The Mummy Returns, and a prequel spin-off, The Scorpion King. However, the third installment, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, received poor reviews and was the lowest-grossing film in the series. Despite this, a fourth movie is in the works, with Fraser and Weisz set to return to their roles.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known as Radio Silence, recently discussed whether Tomb of the Dragon Emperor would still be considered canon in the upcoming film. With Rachel Weisz confirmed to be part of the new movie, it seems likely that the third installment will not be referenced in the new storyline. This decision raises questions about the character of Alex, Rick and Evelyn's son, who was introduced in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor but may not be part of the new canon.
Fans can look forward to The Mummy 4, set to be released on May 19, 2028. Stay tuned for more updates on the latest installment in the beloved franchise.
