Product Recall Alert: Bastides Saucisson Sec Sold at Tesco Due to Salmonella Contamination

A product sold exclusively at Tesco is being recalled due to the presence of salmonella, which can cause symptoms like fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. The affected product is Bastides Saucisson Sec, sold in 200g packs with a best before date of March 4, 2026. If you experience these symptoms, it is advised to avoid work, school, or nursery until symptom-free for at least 48 hours to prevent spreading the infection. Sacor has issued a recall notice to inform customers about the issue and what steps to take if they have purchased the product.

Customers who have bought the recalled product are urged not to consume it and should return it to the nearest Tesco store for a full refund. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) recommends contacting [email protected] for more information. When a food product is deemed unsafe for consumption, it may be withdrawn or recalled, with the FSA issuing Product Recall Information Notices to inform consumers and local authorities. In severe cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued, outlining specific actions to be taken on behalf of consumers.

Salmonella, a type of bacteria commonly associated with food poisoning, can be found in the intestinal tracts of humans and animals. The bacteria are excreted in faeces and can contaminate food and water sources. Common sources of salmonella contamination include poultry, eggs, and unpasteurized dairy products. It is essential to handle and cook food properly to prevent the spread of salmonella and other foodborne illnesses.
