Lanterns: HBO's New Green Lantern Series Trailer Debut Tomorrow
HBO has revealed that the upcoming live-action Green Lantern series, titled "Lanterns," will debut its first trailer online tomorrow. This new project, part of the DC Universe overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran, promises a fresh perspective on Green Lantern lore by blending it with a detective story approach typical of HBO's style.
The narrative centers around the iconic Green Lantern Hal Jordan, portrayed by Kyle Chandler, who is a revered figure within the intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns. Reluctantly taking on the role of mentor, Hal guides the younger Green Lantern John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre. Together, the two law enforcement officers find themselves embroiled in a sinister Earth-based mystery following a murder investigation in the heart of America.
Joining the cast are Kelly Macdonald, Ulrich Thomsen, Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Nicole Ari Parker, and Nathan Fillion. The series, filmed in Los Angeles last year, boasts a writing team comprising Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, with the initial two episodes helmed by director James Hawes. Fans can anticipate the show's premiere sometime during the Summer season.
