Security Breach at Akins Ford Arena: Megan Moroney's Performance Proceeds Despite Trespassing Incident
A man was arrested for trespassing at a venue in Athens, Georgia, just hours before Megan Moroney's scheduled performance. The incident took place at Akins Ford Arena at the Classic Center on Feb. 23. The man, identified as David Allen, was armed with a gun and knife. Despite security guards at the venue, Allen managed to enter the premises.
Upon his arrest, Allen claimed to be a location scout looking for filming locations for a movie called "21 Down," which he said was filming on the University of Georgia campus. However, the university denied any involvement with Allen when contacted by officers. Allen was subsequently taken to Athens-Clarke County Jail and booked for trespassing.
Despite the incident, Megan Moroney went ahead with her scheduled performance in Athens. She performed songs from her newly released album, "Cloud 9," which came out on Feb. 20. Moroney is set to embark on her Cloud 9 Tour, which will take her to various cities in the U.S. through mid-September, followed by an international leg in the fall.
