Unified's Witch Light: A Historical Fantasy Film Set in 1692 Scotland

Unified, a UK production company, is collaborating on a new historical fantasy film called Witch Light, based on Susan Fletcher's novel of the same name. The movie will mark the directorial debut of Morven Christie, a Scottish actor, writer, and director, with support from Screen Scotland. Set in 1692, Witch Light tells the story of Corrag, a girl imprisoned as a witch in the Scottish mountains, who holds secrets about the Massacre of Glencoe.
Fletcher expressed her excitement about Unified acquiring the rights to Witch Light and entrusting the adaptation to Morven Christie. Christie, known for her work in ITV drama Payback and her short film Stray, sees Witch Light as an opportunity to delve into themes of bravery, passion, and kindness against the backdrop of the Scottish landscape. The film promises to explore nature, threat, and internal experiences, building on Christie's previous work.
Unified's portfolio includes projects like Chork, Shane Meadows' first fiction feature in 17 years, and Sarah-Violet Bliss's upcoming thriller Scorn. The company's success has been recognized in Screen's Brit50 feature, highlighting the top UK independent production companies. With Witch Light in the works, Unified continues to push boundaries in storytelling and filmmaking, promising an engaging and visually stunning cinematic experience.
