Continuing the Legacy: Travis Johnson II Commits to Schreiner University

College football legacies are often passed down through generations, and one such legacy is continuing with the son of a Florida State legend. Travis Johnson II, the son of former NFL defensive lineman Travis Johnson, has committed to play football at Schreiner University, a Division III program in Texas. Johnson II, a linebacker, had a successful senior season at Episcopal, recording 39 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks in 11 games. He expressed his excitement about joining Schreiner University's football program and thanked his coaches, family, and supporters for helping him reach this milestone.
Schreiner University is reviving its football team, with Johnson II being part of the inaugural 2026 class. The last time the Mountaineers had a football team was in 1950, and they had a successful 5-1 season in 2025 as they prepared to fully launch their football program. Despite not receiving an offer from Florida State, Johnson II had offers from other schools before ultimately choosing Schreiner University. His father, Travis Johnson, had a standout career at Florida State from 2000 to 2004, earning accolades such as First-Team All-American and first-team All-ACC. He was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft and had a successful six-year NFL career with the Houston Texans and San Diego Chargers.
Travis Johnson's football journey has inspired his son, Travis Johnson II, to follow in his footsteps and pursue his own football career. With a strong family legacy in football, Johnson II is poised to make his mark at Schreiner University and continue the tradition of excellence set by his father. The Johnson family's connection to football spans generations, showcasing the enduring impact of college football legacies.
