Jacob Tierney, the creator of the popular series Heated Rivalry, is set to take on a new project with Netflix. The streaming service has ordered a new drama series called Alexander, which will focus on the teen years of Alexander the Great. Tierney, along with Brendan Brady, will write and direct the series, which is based on the novel The Golden Mean by Annabel Lyon.

In Alexander, Aristotle arrives in Macedonia to tutor a young prince named Alexander as the Athenian empire falls apart. The series will explore their friendship amidst palace intrigue, forbidden love, brutal war, and ambitious goals. Tierney and Brady will serve as executive producers for Accent Aigu Entertainment, while Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan will produce for Aggregate Films.

Netflix's Head of US and Canada Scripted Series, Jinny Howe, expressed excitement about working with Tierney on Alexander. The series is expected to bring a fresh and modern take on the classic mentor-protégé dynamic, resonating with a global audience. Tierney, who wrote two scripts for Alexander on spec, shared his enthusiasm for adapting Lyon's novel and bringing the story to life.

Heated Rivalry, Tierney's previous project, gained immense popularity and led to the creation of Accent Aigu Entertainment. The series, which follows the love story between two rival hockey players, garnered a large viewership and critical acclaim. Tierney and Brady are currently working on the second season of Heated Rivalry, set to premiere in April 2027.

Aggregate Films, known for producing series like Ozark and Black Rabbit, is collaborating with Tierney on Alexander. The series was picked up by Netflix following the success of Heated Rivalry and Tierney's growing reputation as a talented creator. Lyon's novel, The Golden Mean, won the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and has a sequel called The Sweet Girl.

With Alexander, Tierney aims to bring a compelling and captivating story to the screen, exploring the dynamics of mentorship and friendship in a historical setting. The series is expected to combine epic storytelling with intimate character development, offering a unique viewing experience for audiences worldwide.
