Kansas Teacher and Wrestling Coach Charged with Child Pornography Production: What You Need to Know
A middle school teacher and high school wrestling coach from Kansas, Ryan Brungardt, has been charged with producing child pornography after filming three minors showering in a locker room during a wrestling tournament. Brungardt, who worked at Lakewood Middle School and Salina Central High School, faces federal charges of child pornography production and attempted production. He was arrested in January 2024 in Newton after a scuffle with police officers who were trying to seize his cellphone, resulting in a small fire and the evacuation of the school. Investigators are reviewing additional cellphone videos from wrestling events in various cities during the 2023-24 season.
