Remembering Bob Rosenfarb: A Tribute to a Comedy Legend

We are saddened to announce the passing of Bob Rosenfarb, a talented writer and producer known for his work on popular network comedies in the 1990s. Bob, who passed away at the age of 74, made significant contributions to shows like Who’s the Boss?, Step by Step, and Head of the Class. His writing credits also include acclaimed series such as St. Elsewhere, Cagney & Lacey, and The Golden Girls.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, Bob Rosenfarb began his career after graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and started as a bartender before breaking into the industry with a spec script for Mork & Mindy. Throughout his career, he worked on various shows, including animated series like The Get Along Gang, Heathcliff & the Catillac Cats, and The Wuzzles.

Bob Rosenfarb's passion for comedy and storytelling was evident in his work and his personal life. He valued his family, cherished lifelong friendships, and had a deep appreciation for the collaborative nature of comedy. His wit, warmth, and love for sharing stories and jokes will be remembered by all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his sister Beth, brother-in-law Jim, nephew Jesse, and niece Rebecca. A memorial service in his honor will be held at Mount Sinai Hollywood Hills on Friday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
