KSI's Journey: Race to the Top with Dagenham & Redbridge
British YouTuber KSI has followed in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney by purchasing a struggling lower league U.K. soccer club, Dagenham & Redbridge. KSI, whose real name is Olajide Olatunji, acquired a minority stake in the club, which currently competes in the sixth tier of British football. He is teaming up with production company After Party Studios to create a docuseries titled "Race to the Top," similar to Reynolds and McElhenney's "Welcome to Wrexham" series, documenting his journey with the club as he aims to elevate it to the Premier League.
The docuseries will premiere on KSI's YouTube channel, which has 17 million subscribers, and will be promoted across his social media platforms with a combined reach of 33.5 million. "Race to the Top" will follow KSI's efforts to transform Dagenham & Redbridge, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and opportunities involved in managing a non-league football club in the modern era. The series will be translated into 14 languages and will cover the 26/27 season, showcasing KSI's experiences in the boardroom and interactions with fans.
Director Ben Doyle, also known as RVBBERDUCK, who previously worked on KSI's documentary "KSI: Can't Lose," expressed his excitement about capturing KSI's latest venture. KSI shared his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the significance of the journey from his online football aspirations to owning a club. The collaboration between KSI, Ben Doyle, and After Party Studios promises to provide unprecedented access to the highs and lows of Dagenham & Redbridge's transformation under KSI's leadership.
"Race to the Top" is executive produced by Jamie MacDonald and James Byfield for After Party Studios, as well as KSI and Mo Syed, head of content for KSI. Alysha Christal serves as the producer of the series, which is currently in production and will feature KSI's first game attendance as an owner at the upcoming match against Dorking Wanderers. The series marks a significant milestone for KSI and his team as they embark on this ambitious journey to elevate Dagenham & Redbridge to new heights.
