The Bits Weekly Roundup: Disc Reviews, Release News, and Updates

This week has been quite busy at The Bits, with new disc reviews and release news to share. Tim and Stephen have reviewed various Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD releases, including Chor Yuen’s The Sentimental Swordsman (1977), Saga Erotica: The Emmanuelle Collection, Captain Blood (1935), Quest for Fire (1981), Sleepless (2001), Iphigenia (1977), She Shoots Straight (1990), Once a Thief (1991), Manpower (1941), and By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953). Additionally, there is an update on the ongoing Paramount/Skydance, Warner Bros., Netflix saga, with a podcast episode coming soon.

Earlier this week, there was confusion about a purported Blu-ray release of the original unaltered Star Wars Trilogy. The artwork was real but not for the original unaltered films. It is part of a repackage and repromote of the existing Blu-rays of all three Star Wars Trilogies for the annual May the 4th promotion. The artwork has been used on International Blu-ray SKUs of the Original Trilogy. The hope is to get the newly remastered GOUT version of the trilogy on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD for the franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2027.

In announcement news, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release Becoming Led Zeppelin (2025) as a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray Limited Edition on 4/14. Pre-orders are available for GOAT (2026) on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD. Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has launched pre-orders for The Bride! (2026) and Wuthering Heights (2026). Bizarro is releasing The Ghost Galleon (1974) on 4K Ultra HD on 4/28. Vinegar Syndrome is releasing Boxcar Bertha (1972) on 4K Ultra HD on 4/28, along with Massacre (1989) and Office Killer (1997). Mill Creek Entertainment is releasing Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021) and Masters of the Universe: Revolution (2024) on Blu-ray Steelbook double-feature on 6/2. 88 Films is releasing Project A (1983) and Project A: Part II (1987) on 4K Ultra HD on 6/9. Severin Films is releasing Voices from Beyond (1991) and The Crippled Masters (1979) on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on 5/26. Kino Lorber Studio Classics is releasing the Brit Noir: Collection I on Blu-ray on 2/26.
