Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Shoots Woman on Dolphin Expressway: Incident Under Investigation

Early Saturday morning, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper shot a woman on the Dolphin Expressway in northwest Miami-Dade after she allegedly attacked him with a knife. The incident occurred when troopers responded to reports of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on the expressway. The trooper encountered the woman in the median, where she brandished a knife and assaulted him. In response, the trooper fired his weapon, injuring both parties. They were taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
