Remembering Aviation Survival Technician Tyler Jaggers: A Tribute to a Heroic Coast Guard Member

A member of the U.S. Coast Guard, Aviation Survival Technician Tyler Jaggers, tragically passed away after sustaining critical injuries during a rescue mission near Cape Flattery, Washington. The Coast Guard announced his death, stating that Jaggers was injured during a medical evacuation operation on February 27. He was transported to Madigan Army Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Jaggers had recently been promoted to AST2 for his dedication to qualifications and mentorship of swimmer candidates, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in aerial flight.

Tyler Jaggers had joined the Coast Guard in January 2022 and had been stationed at Air Station Astoria since April 2024. His exceptional performance and commitment to duty were recognized by the secretary of Homeland Security while serving aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Legare in the Caribbean Sea. The Coast Guard is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Jaggers' death and will provide further details as they become available.
