USC's First Padded Practice: Recruiting Targets, Player Highlights, and Coaching Emphasis
USC players were thrilled after their first padded practice on Friday, March 6. The Trojans had key recruiting targets visiting, including Mater Dei four-star cornerback Danny Lang and four-star safety Ace Leutele. Servite four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder also visited USC. The Trojans are focused on recruiting top talent from the Trinity League conference, with Class of 2029 athlete Austin Miller being a standout prospect. Four-star receiver signee Boobie Feaster was on campus, and the team worked on special teams and individual drills during practice.
Special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler emphasized punt technique, while quarterbacks worked on pocket mobility with offensive coordinator Luke Huard. Freshman running back Deshonne Redeaux showcased his catching skills, and running backs coach Anthony Jones praised Shahn Alston's work ethic and physicality. The cornerbacks focused on Cover 2 drills with coach Trovon Reed, highlighting players like Marcelles Williams and Brandon Lockhart. Freshmen like Luke Wafle, Tomuhini "TomTom" Topui, and Breck Kolojay impressed during the first padded practice, showcasing their talent and potential.
