Leading the Way: Mandy Chang Appointed as CEO of the UK Documentary Film Council

Mandy Chang, a renowned documentary producer, has been appointed as the first CEO of the UK's Documentary Film Council (DFC). With her extensive experience in the industry, Chang will lead the DFC during a crucial period as it approaches its third year of operation. Her impressive portfolio includes projects like "Two Strangers: Trying Not to Kill Each Other" and "Welcome to Chechnya."

The DFC, established in 2023 as a member-owned organization, represents the interests of the UK documentary sector. Chang's appointment follows the tenure of Steve Presence and Emily Copley, who served as Joint Acting CEOs since the organization's inception. With Chang at the helm, the DFC aims to strengthen and unify the documentary ecosystem in the UK.

Expressing their gratitude for the support received over the past two years, Presence and Copley highlighted the importance of the DFC in advocating for the industry. They look forward to the organization's continued growth under Chang's leadership. The addition of trustees Zara Meerza and Julian Carrington further enhances the DFC's expertise, with Meerza being an Emmy Award-winning writer and filmmaker, and Carrington serving as the Executive Director of the Documentary Organization of Canada.

As the DFC enters a new chapter with Mandy Chang as CEO, the organization is poised to advance its mission of supporting and promoting the UK documentary sector. With a strong leadership team and dedicated members, the DFC is committed to advocating for the industry and fostering a more resilient documentary ecosystem.
