Mark Scheifele Named NHL's First Star of the Week: A Closer Look at His Impressive Performance

Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets has been named the NHL's First Star of the Week for the period ending Mar. 8. Scheifele had an impressive week, contributing to all three Jets goals in an overtime win against Chicago, scoring another game-winning goal against Tampa Bay, and recording a three-point effort in a victory over Vancouver. His performance earned him eight points and two game-winning goals, tying for the most in the NHL for the week.

As the Jets' first-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, Scheifele leads the team in points, goals, assists, and game-winning goals this season. He is on track to set new career highs in points and assists and could reach the 40-goal mark for the second time in his career. Scheifele has achieved several milestones this season, including 500 career assists, 900 career games, and surpassing franchise records for games played and points.
