Seattle Seahawks Edge Rusher Boye Mafe Signs with Cincinnati Bengals: Impact on Seahawks' Roster
The Seattle Seahawks are facing another departure from their Super Bowl LX-winning roster as edge rusher Boye Mafe has signed a three-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Mafe joins running back Kenneth Walker and safety Coby Bryant in leaving the team, while cornerback Josh Jobe has decided to re-sign with the Seahawks. Mafe's contract with the Bengals is reported to be worth $60 million.
During his time with the Seahawks, Mafe played in 65 regular season games and four playoff games after being drafted in the fourth round in 2022. He recorded 164 tackles, 20 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in the regular season, along with seven playoff tackles, five of which came during the team's recent Super Bowl victory.
With the departure of Joseph Ossai to the Jets and the expected exit of Trey Hendrickson, Mafe will be a key addition to the Bengals' defense, bringing a new dynamic to their edge rush. The Seahawks will need to adjust to the loss of Mafe and other departing players as they look to maintain their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
