Norwegian Police Arrest Three Brothers in Connection with U.S. Embassy Bombing in Oslo

Three brothers of Iraqi origin who are Norwegian citizens have been arrested in connection with the explosion at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway. The arrests were made on suspicion of a "terrorist bombing" at the embassy building. The men, in their 20s, were not previously known to the police, and investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack.

According to police prosecutor Christian Hatlo, the brothers are believed to have played different roles in the bombing. One of them is suspected of placing the bomb outside the embassy, while the other two are thought to have been complicit in the act. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are not ruling out links to criminal networks.

The explosion occurred at one of the entrances to the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, causing minor damage to the building but no casualties or injuries. Following the blast, security measures were reinforced in Oslo, and the police presence around the embassy was increased. Additionally, security measures were heightened to protect the Iranian diaspora and Jewish communities in Norway.

Head of the Oslo police investigation unit, Frode Larsen, suggested that the attack may have been deliberate and linked to the crisis in the Middle East. Terrorism is one of the motives being investigated by authorities. The Norwegian security service PST had previously warned of the potential for Iran to use proxy actors, including criminal networks, to carry out such attacks.

Rep. Rick Crawford, chair of the House Intel Committee, expressed his belief that the explosion at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo may have been a terrorist attack. U.S. embassies worldwide have been on high alert since the conflict with Iran began, with several facing attacks in retaliation. It is crucial to remain vigilant and ensure the security of U.S. assets, including embassies, both domestically and internationally.
