USC Trojans Baseball: Undefeated Streak Continues with Historic 16-0 Start

The USC Trojans made history with a 6-1 victory over the Long Beach State Dirtbags, extending their undefeated streak to 16-0, the best start in program history. After a successful 2025 season, the Trojans have shown significant improvement and continue to dominate with their unbeaten record. They are one of two college baseball teams with a perfect 16-0 record, alongside the Texas Longhorns. Junior catcher Isaac Cadena and left fielder Andrew Lamb played key roles in the Trojans' win, with Lamb hitting a three-run home run in the second inning.
USC's strong performance extends beyond non-conference play, as they swept the Illinois Fighting Illini in a three-game series, outscoring them 13-3. The Trojans' pitching staff, led by Mason Edwards and Grant Govel, has been exceptional this season. Edwards boasts an impressive 0.00 ERA and 42 strikeouts in four starts, while Govel has also maintained a perfect ERA and recorded 29 strikeouts.
As they head into Big Ten conference play, the Trojans rely on offensive leaders like Kevin Takeuchi and Adrian Lopez to maintain their success. Takeuchi leads the team in hits, runs, RBIs, and home runs, while Lopez has been a consistent contributor. The Trojans face tough competition from teams like the Oregon Ducks, UCLA Bruins, and Nebraska Cornhuskers, all of whom are off to strong 3-0 starts in the Big Ten. USC's stellar performance and talented roster position them as top contenders in the conference and potentially in the NCAA Tournament.
