Guro Reiten Joins NJ/NY Gotham FC: A Look at the Norwegian Winger's Impact on the 2026 NWSL Season

Norwegian footballer Guro Reiten is set to join NJ/NY Gotham FC in the National Women’s Soccer League on loan from Chelsea. The 31-year-old left-footed winger will bring her scoring prowess to Gotham as they aim to defend their 2025 NWSL Championship title. Reiten was Chelsea’s second-highest scorer in the 2024–25 Women’s Super League season, netting 12 goals across all competitions. She has been a consistent threat for Chelsea, reaching a milestone of 50 total goals for the club last year. Additionally, Reiten has scored 21 goals in 108 appearances for Norway since 2014.

Gotham FC finished eighth in the 2025 NWSL regular-season standings with 35 goals, placing them in the middle of the pack for goalscoring. Their strong goal differential of 10 secured them the final playoff spot and led to their second NWSL Championship title in three years. With the departure of Ella Stevens to Boston Legacy and the trade of Gabi Portilho to San Diego Wave, Gotham has filled their final roster spot with the addition of Guro Reiten.

The 2026 NWSL season will kick off for Gotham with an away match against Boston on March 14, followed by their home opener on March 21. Guro Reiten’s arrival is sure to bolster Gotham’s attacking options and contribute to their quest for continued success in the league.
