Honda Shifts Focus to Next-Generation Hybrids: Cancels Acura RSX Electric Crossover and Two Other EVs

Honda recently made the decision to cancel the development and launch of the Acura RSX electric crossover, along with two other electric vehicles. The decision was made due to slower-than-expected adoption of electric vehicles in North America. The company estimated significant losses as a result of this cancellation, leading to a shift in focus towards next-generation hybrids. Honda plans to invest more in hybrids, with a new V6 engine confirmed for large SUVs to improve fuel efficiency by 30 percent compared to current gas models. This decision reflects a slowdown in the growth of the EV market in the U.S. and aims to cut losses and reallocate resources accordingly.
