Rivian unveiled the R2 in 2024 with a starting price of $45,000, generating excitement for an affordable electric SUV. The company recently disclosed final pricing and specifications for the R2, emphasizing its significance. The base model will maintain the $45,000 starting price, but most customers are likely to opt for higher-priced trims. The first version to be released is the dual-motor Performance trim, priced at $59,485, offering impressive power and features.
The R2 Performance boasts 656 horsepower, 609 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60mph time of 3.6 seconds. It includes premium features like Compass Yellow brake calipers, Birch wood accents, and a 975-Watt Premium Audio system. The Performance trim also offers various drive modes, exclusive lighting features, and a rechargeable Torch flashlight. Customers can opt for the Launch Package, which includes a lifetime subscription to the Autonomy Plus package.
Following the Performance trim is the Premium trim, priced at $55,485, with 450 hp, 537 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds. It shares many features with the Performance trim but with less power and fewer off-road capabilities. The Autonomy Plus package is available as an upgrade for the Premium trim. The R2 Standard (Long Range) will be released in early 2027, priced at $49,985, offering 345 miles of range and a more budget-friendly option.
The base model R2 Standard is expected to launch in late 2027 with 275 miles of range.
