Tim Roth's Abomination: From Embarrassing Kids to MCU Reunion

Tim Roth, known for his role as Emil Blonsky, also known as Abomination in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently shared the reason behind taking on the character. In a recent interview, he mentioned that he accepted the role in 2008's The Incredible Hulk to embarrass his children at school. This decision was part of his plan to make his son feel awkward by his movie choices, including other films like Planet of the Apes. Roth was surprised when he was asked to reprise the role in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he praised his co-star Tatiana Maslany for her performance and professionalism on set.
During the interview, Roth also mentioned his connection with Maslany's husband, Brendan Hines, who appeared in his series Lie to Me. He expressed his enjoyment of working with Maslany and shared a reunion experience on the set. Roth seemed open to the idea of returning as Abomination in future MCU projects like Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, expressing his interest in the opportunity. In The Incredible Hulk, Blonsky, a Russian-British Royal Marine, transformed into Abomination after being recruited by General Thaddeus Ross to capture Bruce Banner, leading to a showdown with the Hulk in Harlem.
Abomination made subsequent appearances in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, where he fought Wong in a combat scene, and in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he had gained control of his Abomination form and started a self-healing support group called Abomaste to make amends for his past actions. In another storyline, an alternate version of Abomination appeared in Marvel Zombies, controlled by The Red Queen and ultimately meeting his demise at the hands of Infinity Hulk in the finale. Tim Roth's portrayal of Emil Blonsky/Abomination has left a lasting impact on the MCU, with fans eagerly anticipating his potential return in future Marvel projects.
