UCR's Best '70s Albums March Madness: Round Two Battles Heat Up!

The first round of UCR's Best '70s Albums March Madness bracket has concluded, with 16 popular albums advancing to the next round. The battles in round one were mostly one-sided, but the competition is expected to intensify in round two. You can vote once per hour in each of the eight second-round matchups until March 20, 2026, at 11:59 PM EST. Round three will commence on March 21.

AC/DC's Highway to Hell emerged victorious in round one against ZZ Top's Deguello, securing a spot in the Sweet 16. They will face off against Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic, which defeated Yes' Fragile in the first round.

The Who's Who's Next triumphed over the Beatles' Let It Be and will now compete against Van Halen's self-titled debut album in the second round, which defeated Black Sabbath's Paranoid.

Tom Petty's Damn the Torpedoes defeated Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks and will now challenge Bob Seger's Stranger in Town, which outperformed Ted Nugent's self-titled debut in round one.

The Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers dominated the Clash's London Calling and will now take on Queen's A Night at the Opera, which defeated CSNY's Deja Vu.

Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon emerged victorious against David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and will now compete against Paul McCartney's Band on the Run, which narrowly defeated the Doors' L.A. Woman.

The Eagles' Hotel California defeated Lynyrd Skynyrd's debut album and will now face Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album, which defeated Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Foreigner's Double Vision overcame John Lennon's Imagine and will now challenge Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, which defeated Kiss' Alive! in round one.
