Chelsea Handler's Disappointing Mansion Purchase: A Comedian's Unlivable Los Angeles Home Saga

Chelsea Handler recently shared her disappointing experience with buying a Los Angeles mansion from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cheryl Hines in 2021. The comedian claimed that despite the high price tag and promises of renovations, the property was not move-in ready. Years after the purchase, Handler revealed that she still hasn't been able to live in the house.

During an episode of her podcast, Handler described the mansion as being in poor condition and unlivable. Despite initial impressions of renovations, serious issues were only discovered late in the inspection process. Contractors reportedly labeled the house a "toxic environment," warning that it could take years to make it safe for occupancy.

One of the problems Handler encountered was an outdoor structure that inspectors deemed illegal. She also mentioned complications arising from removing additions made during Kennedy's ownership. Handler criticized Kennedy's role in public health, questioning his ability to oversee the country's health given the state of his own property.

Despite the challenges, Handler received a supportive note from Hines after the sale, offering assistance if needed. Handler humorously remarked that she would have preferred help fixing the foundation. While she joked about being "totally over it," her comments indicated that the home-buying experience has been far from smooth.
