Yazmeen Ryan and Delanie Sheehan Transfer to Denver Summit: A New Chapter Begins

Yazmeen Ryan and Delanie Sheehan are making a move from the Houston Dash to the newly established Denver Summit for a transfer fee, as confirmed by sources. The duo had previously joined the Dash from NJ/NY Gotham FC in December 2024, ahead of the 2025 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season. Despite interest from other clubs, Ryan and Sheehan chose Denver as their preferred destination for the transfer.
Ryan, who began her professional career with the Portland Thorns after being drafted in 2021, had successful stints with Gotham FC before moving to Houston in 2024. She was a standout performer for the Dash in the 2025 season, leading the team in goals and assists. She also made her debut for the U.S. women's national team under head coach Emma Hayes.
Sheehan, also drafted in 2021 by Gotham, played a crucial role in the team's midfield during their Championship-winning season in 2023. She later joined the Dash as a free agent and featured in all matches in the 2025 season. Both players had existing contracts that the Summit will inherit, with Ryan signed through 2027 and Sheehan's contract set to expire in 2026 with an option for 2027.
The transfer of Ryan and Sheehan to Denver came as a surprise, as they were expected to be key players for Houston in the upcoming season. However, the opportunity to join the Summit presented itself, and the move was finalized recently. Despite starting on the bench in Houston's season opener, both players are now part of the Denver Summit roster.
Denver Summit faced a 2–1 defeat in their inaugural NWSL match against Bay FC, with captain Janine Sonis receiving a red card. Melissa Kössler scored the team's first-ever goal in the match. The addition of Ryan and Sheehan brings experience and talent to the Summit squad as they navigate their debut season in the league.
