This Summer Will Be Different: A Romantic TV Series Adaptation Coming to Netflix
Netflix has greenlit a new romance TV series adaptation based on Carley Fortune's novel, This Summer Will Be Different. The 10-episode series will be produced by Sphere Media, known for the popular limited series thriller, Wayward. The story follows Lucy, a young woman on Prince Edward Island, as she navigates her 20s and her first love with her best friend's brother, Felix, over multiple summers.
The novel adaptation will be set on Prince Edward Island, where Lucy spends her summer vacations falling for Felix. The series will be shot on location in Prince Edward Island and Toronto. The creators and showrunners, Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart, along with executive producers Carley Fortune, Jennifer Kawaja, and Elise Cousineau, are excited to bring this love story to the screen.
Carley Fortune, the novelist, expressed her love for Prince Edward Island and the inspiration she drew from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables novels. The series aims to capture the beauty of the island and the warmth of its people, transporting audiences to the glittering shores and windswept beaches of PEI.
Netflix's Canadian content slate includes This Summer Will Be Different, North of North, Wayward, Who Killed the Montreal Expos?, an untitled Newfoundland Project, and The Granville Girls. The series will be available for streaming globally, with production and release dates yet to be announced.
